On Saturday, September 10th from 8am until 3pm we are collecting any scrap metal you can think of to be recycled for cash. The money collected will be put towards the build-out of the Rosewood Cafe. We’ll also have hot dogs, hula hoops and ping pong!
Bring any scrap metal (i.e. a shovel, bedframe, old lawnmower, old BBQ, tin cans, anything made of metal) to Rosewood Cafe at 609 SE 162nd Ave and our donated trucks from Rex Heating will haul it away. If you have something too big to move, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will make arrangements for pickup. This is a great way to collect funds for our cafe and make a little extra room for yourself.
Please tell your friends and neighbors, and we’ll see you on the 10th!
There are dozens of people to thank for their time, ideas, effort and financial support of Rosewood. You know who you are!! Today, we’d especially like to thank Rex Hollingsworth of Rex Heating and Air Conditioning and Moe Farhoud of Stark Firs Property Management for their generous gifts. It’s through local support that this initiative can truly make a difference and we are grateful that these two business owners see the value of contributing to our community.
We would also like to thank our very own Multnomah County Commissioner, Diane McKeel, who is so excited about Rosewood that she wrote us a personal check! Let’s keep spreading the word and get these doors open!!
Permits are taking longer than we would like, but that is not stopping us from using Rosewood Cafe as a community space however we can. A big thanks to Mike Vander Veen, Tom Lewis and Fiorella Featherston for setting up a ping pong table that has already inspired a tournament this Friday! Here are a few other items we have come up with to start using the cafe as it is:
Books, toys, board games, cards, stereo, CDs, refrigerator, art supplies, scissors, jump ropes, plastic container bins, kites, crayons, coloring books, digital camera, printer, reusable plastic cups, Sudoku and crossword puzzles, a tv and dvd player…
Can you help with any of these things?
Bring your donations to our next community meeting, Wednesday, August 17th at 1pm at Rosewood Cafe!
Our friend Tony Noble at TaborSpace put together this great display on Rosewood, grab a cup of coffee and check it out! 5441 SE Belmont
We had so much fun Saturday, over 20 volunteers helped us raise nearly $300 for the cafe. Even better, every day we are building a stronger community through these events and getting more people involved in Rosewood. Thank you everyone!! What are your ideas for helping your neighborhood?
