Dear Rosewood Community and Partners,
The team here at The Rosewood Initiative is taking COVID-19 and our responsibility to the community very seriously. After much deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to close the center and cancel gatherings until further notice.

We're Moving!
We’re moving! For the past 12 years, The Rosewood Initiative has worked towards building a safe, healthy, and vibrant community where neighbors can thrive together. We are thrilled to announce that we are moving in order to finally put down roots. When we reach our fundraising goal, we will own our new building in the Rosewood neighborhood at SE 141st and Stark, and fully realize the vision for a Community Hub. We’ll see you there in Summer 2022!
It has always been important to The Rosewood Initiative to implement neighbor-led strategies and work alongside the community. Our organization and our work are led by the Rosewood community, which is represented in our organization’s leadership, program participants, and partners. Rosewood neighbors have always advocated for having a space in their community where they can gather, connect, and celebrate each other. The Rosewood Initiative did just that when we first opened our community center. We created community celebrations, access to resources, and a multifaceted space where our diverse community felt safe, and most importantly, at home. It brings us joy to now be able to carry out the Rosewood neighborhood’s vision of having a permanent hub in our community. With community ownership of this space, we are now able to implement bigger neighbor-led strategies in the realms of community building, health and wellness, and economic development.
p:ear builds positive relationships with homeless youth through education, art, recreation, and job training to affirm personal worth and create more meaningful and healthier lives. As most of you know, p:ear has run its Bike Works program in our space for the past four years. Bike access in the Rosewood neighborhood was practically non-existent before p:ear brought their programming, which offers low-cost bike repairs and affordable bikes to Rosewood neighbors. Since hosting p:ear in our space, we have grown a strong partnership based on a shared vision of the impact that we can have in the community. The Rosewood Initiative and p:ear will be purchasing this new space together, and p:ear will be continuing its Bike Works program. We are looking forward to the future collaboration and the positive impact that will come from owning a space together.
When our new space is ready, we would love for you to visit us, check out our programming, and learn more about what’s next. You can help us continue to make an impact by becoming a sustaining donor! These donors make it possible to ensure the long-term stability and success of The Rosewood Initiative programs. This would not be possible without the support of our funders, Representative Valderrama & Senator Jama, our Rosewood neighbors, and our partnership with p:ear. We feel so fortunate to be able to stay rooted in the neighborhood and excited for what is to come!
